Casey earned both Bachelor of Arts and Master of Fine Arts
degrees from Bowling Green State University, and has exhibited
his distinctive paintings and drawings in galleries across
the United States and countries throughout the world. With
more than 30 solo exhibitions to his credit, Caseys
work is also part of the permanent collections of many galleries
including: The California Museum of African American Art
in Los Angeles, the Beverly Hills Library in Beverly Hills,
California, the Hirshhorn Museum in Washington, D.C. and
the John Bolles Gallery in San Francisco. His work has been
featured in Life, Newsweek, Art Gallery, Art Forum and other
journals.
Casey is a committed fine arts educator, and served for
20 years as the Chairman of the Board of Americas
largest university of art and design which is The Savannah
College of Art and Design (SCAD) in Savannah, Georgia. At
SCAD, Casey not only helped to guide the growth of the university,
but was actively involved in recruiting students, encouraging
them to combine their creative ability with education in
the pursuit of career opportunities in fine arts. Each year,
Casey would speak to art educators from around the country
who would attend SCAD for an Art Educators Forum.
His presentation would inspire these educators to work diligently
to properly train the next generation of fine arts painters,
saying that the world will always need to provide
the color of life.
Casey lectures at colleges and universities and addresses
groups and organizations throughout the United States. In
1982, he participated and exchanged ideas with artists throughout
the world, including representatives from behind the Iron
Curtain. In 1976, Casey was selected to represent the North
American Zone in the Second World Black and African Arts
and Culture Festival held in Lagos, Nigeria.
Caseys paintings continue to be acquired by a prestigious
list of collectors. Although too numerous to name, a few
of the collectors of Caseys work include: Terry McMillan,
Phoebe Beasley, Sidney Poitier, Quincy Jones, Dr. Maya Angelou,
Burt Reynolds, NBA sports legend Bill Russell, and NFL sports
legend Jim Brown.
