Keith ‘K-Dub’ Williams (b.1963)
K-Dub (born Keith Williams) is an Oakland-based visual artist whose work merges fine art, street culture, and community storytelling into a vibrant and distinctly urban aesthetic. Known for his energetic compositions and layered narratives, K-Dub draws inspiration from the cultural rhythms, social histories, and lived experiences of the Bay Area. His practice bridges illustration, mixed media, graffiti-influenced mark-making, and graphic design, resulting in a visual language that is both contemporary and deeply rooted in community identity.
A longtime educator and youth mentor, K-Dub has spent decades empowering young artists across Oakland. He is the founder of the Attitudinal Healing Connection’s ArtEsteem program and a driving force behind the Oakland Superheroes Mural Project, one of the city’s most celebrated public art initiatives that engages youth in imagining justice, self-empowerment, and creative transformation. His commitment to arts education has made him a beloved cultural figure, recognized for nurturing the next generation of artists and for using art as a tool for social healing.
In his studio work, K-Dub explores themes of resilience, memory, spirituality, and the intersections of everyday life. Whether through bold figurative imagery, abstracted urban landscapes, or graphic storytelling, his pieces pulse with vitality and a strong sense of place. His work has been exhibited throughout California and collected by individuals, institutions, and community partners who value art that speaks to both personal and collective narratives.
K-Dub continues to live, teach, and create in Oakland, where his art and advocacy contribute to the visual and cultural heartbeat of the city.
